History

In 1958, Sy's first company, Shoemart (SM), started in Carriedo, Manila. He initially focused on buying large supplies of shoes from the United States. His business expanded as he transformed his shoe store into a department store.^[3]
At this point, Sy set up his second company, SM Department Store Inc., and began selling stocks to department stores. In 1978, Sy began buying supermarkets at the northern end of EDSA in Quezon City. By the time he built his first mall, SM City North EDSA in 1994, his companies were listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange, SM Prime Holdings Inc.^[4] By 2005, the SM Investments Corporation was inaugurated.

Retail and Malls

SM Prime Holdings is the parent company of the SM Group's shopping malls, the largest shopping mall and retail operator in the Philippines. It was incorporated on January 6, 1994 by Filipino-Chinese entrepreneur Henry Sy to develop, conduct, operate and maintain the SM commercial shopping centers and all businesses-related thereto, such as the lease of commercial spaces in the compound of shopping centers. It went public on July 5, 1994 and subsequently grew, becoming the largest company listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange in terms of revenue. The company's main sources of revenues include rental income from mall and food courts, cinema ticket sales, and amusement income from bowling and ice-skating.
SM Prime is currently one of the largest shopping mall chains in the world, with 40 supermalls built and eight proposed or under construction malls. Its largest mall, which at first, is the largest mall for a 15-year period, is the SM Megamall. Alongside is the once-largest mall in the country, SM Mall of Asia and the very first SM mall, SM City North EDSA.
SM Prime operates the following:

• The SM Store - is the foundation of SM, as well as the lifestyle and fashion chain. SM holds more than 50 SM Department Stores nationwide.
• SM Supermarket - is the supermarket chain. It offers food and non-food products.
• SaveMore Market
• SM Hypermarket - is a retail chain, offering wet market, grocery, general merchandise, and discount products.
• Pilipinas Makro, Inc. (Makro) - is a once-retail chain, but now a member of SM Group.

Real estate property

• SM Development Corporation (SMDC) - is a residential property developer which focuses on the premium middle market. SMDC now operates SM Residences and MPlace.
• Highlands Prime, Inc. - is a residential developer in Tagaytay Highlands, a mountainside resort and residential complex.
• Mall of Asia Complex - is an alternative business and tourism district, as well as the home of the SM Mall of Asia, SMX Convention Center (the largest private venue in Philippines), OneE-com Center and Mall of Asia Arena (one of the largest private sports venue in Philippines). The Mall of Asia Complex occupies 60 hectares of land along the coast of Manila Bay, offering locations for business, tourism, retail, and leisure projects.
• Hamilo Coast - is a large-scale eco-tourism project to develop in phases 5,700 hectares of land by the sea in Nasugbu, Batangas into a network of coastal resort communities.
• Since November 2014, the consortium of SM Investments and the family of Francisco Ortigas owns 37% of OCLP Holdings, the parent of Ortigas & Company.

Mining

• Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation - is engaged in gold mining operations.

Hospitality and convention

• SM Hotels and Conventions - now operates Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City, Radisson Hotel Cebu, Pico Sands at Pico de Loro in Nasugbu, and Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong City and Cebu.
• SMX Convention Center (SMX) - is a convention center located within the Mall of Asia complex for hosting conventions, seminars, and conferences. Its first branch opened on November 26, 2007. It also has branches in SM Lanang Premier in Davao City and SM Aura Premier in Taguig City, which opened on September 12, 2012, and May 17, 2013 respectively. It will soon open in SM City Bacolod in September 2014, SM Seaside City Cebu in 2015 and in SM City Clark.
• SM Mall of Asia Arena - is a venue which hosts concerts and other big events, opened on June 16, 2012. Its seating capacity is 16,000 and it hosted the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship. It is one of the largest arenas in the Philippines. In 2013, the SM Group announced that there will be another arena of a different name in SM Seaside City Cebu in Cebu City.^[5]

DAMRI

Finally,,,akhirnya harus berangkat juga setelah menikmati liburan idul fitri
berat memang tapi ini sebuah tanggung jawab yang harus dilalui,,,,,so enjoy ajahhhh

gw akan cerita tentang perjalanan dari rumah(Bogor) menuju Imus(Filipina).....
pada zaman dahulu kala.............hahhahahaah

jam dinding kamar terasa cepat berjalan,sudah menunjukkan angka 4,waktunya untuk mandi dan persiapan keberangkatan......dengan diiringi derai air mata sang kodok, akhirnya mandilah kitaaa.....hahahah

stengah 5 waktunya berangakat dengan terlebih dahulu pamit ke kakek dan nenek dan tentu sajah my prince......dengan diantar istri tercintah menggunakan motor menuju terminal Damr* (Botani Square),just info saya membawa 1 koper besar,1 tas backpack  yang tergolong besar juga dan kami naik motor matic,,karena ukuran koper yang besar sehingga tak cukup jika ditaruh didepan motor alhasil sang istri memangku koper tersebut selama perjalanan (suaminya ajah ga pernah dipangku..hehehehe)....skitar 40 menit perjalanan akhirnya sampailah di terminal Damr*,sebenarnya ada perasaan takut ktika memutuskan naik Damr* ,penuh lah,,gak nyaman lah...atau bahkan kesulitan membawa barang lah,,dll....
ketika pesan tiket bus,sebenarnya ada yang akan langsung berangkat jenis Royale,tapi karena masih ingin menikmati kota Bogor akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk naek bus selanjutnya tapi regular..karena bus ini berangkat setiap 30 menit sekali..

Sungguh diluar dugaan ketika akan menaiki bus ini ternyata petugas lapangan ramah tidak seperti di terminal2 pada  umumnya,dimulai ketika mau menaikkan koper ke bagasi dengan sigap petugas membantu dan menayakan di terminal berapa saya akan turun,setelah itu petugas memberikan potongan kertas yang sebagian di tempel pada koper,,,
naek ke bus ternyata bangku penumpang dibuat sedemikian rupa sehingga membuat penumpang nyaman duduk,tak lama didalam dan akan berangkat,ternyata ada petugas yang memberikan sambutan sebelum perjalanan yang isinya kurang lebih mengucapkan selamat jalan selamat sampai tujuan,hati2 dengan barang bawaan ,mohon maaf apabila ada pelayananan yang kurang memuaskan dan terimkasih telah memilih bus ini untuk perjalanan ...wow..kaget rasanya ,diluar dugaan.setelah selesai dengan penumpang yang tidak begitu banyak akhirnya kami berangkat pukul 18.04wib,disepanjang perjalanan para penumpang disuguhi lagu yang easy listening...mulai dari peterpan,ungu,wali,sheila on 7,yuni shara,novia kolopaking,poppy mercury,dewi yul,broery......ada yang aneh???? Yup...lagunya lama2 membawa kita kembali ke masa lalu...hahahahahahah...its real happen...

setelah masuk ke area airport dengan sigap petugas menyebutkan ,terminal 1A keberangkatan sulawesi,,sumatera,,,,bla,,bla,,blaa,,,,entahlah lupa saya,tp yang pasti petugas tersebut hapal jadwal keberangkatan,,,wow lagi....dia menyebutkan sampai 1C,,,kemudian bus bergeraak kembali menuju terminal selanjutnya. dimulai dari terminal 2 D,,,karena saya turun disini jadi gak tau cerita selanjutnya,,,hihiihi........tapi ketika saya turun petugas membantu menurunkan dan mengambil koper yang ada di bagasi....sungguh puas rasanya dengan service yang diberikan,ketakutan diawal ternyata tidak terbukti sama sekali,sgitu masih yang regullar entah seperti apa yang royale,,,dengan selisih harga yang tidak jauh 55rbu(Regular) dan 75ribu (Royale) rasanya worth it....on schedule butuh 1 stengah jam untuk sampai di bandara Soekarno Hatta,itu artinya saya harus menunggu lama untuk check in dan boarding karna pesawat berangakat pukul 00.30 wib..hahahahh...dengan melihat pemandangan yang ada.....halah akhirnya lelah juga hahahahah...buka perbekalan yang sudah disediakan istri tercintah akhirnya makan malam di ruang tunggu penumpang,kali ini saya menaiki kuda besi Cebu Pacific Airlines.

Sampai bandara manila Ninoy Aquino internationl Airport (NAIA) sebenarnya on time,tapi karena nunggu teman yang tertahan di imigrasi jd agak nunggu dulu,sampai rumah jam 10 pagi,udah gitu karena baru tranfer staff house jadi rumahnya masih berantakan dan gak ada air,,harusnya jadwal kerja jadi memilih dirumah untuk beres2....dan menemani tukang yang sedang membetulkan  air....but overall perjalanan yang menyenangkan.semoga lebaran ini membawa keberkahan untuk kita semua....happy ied mubarak...

sedikit kosakata tentang bahasa tagalog,di hari ketiga shaum di bulan ramadhan ini banyak hal yang bisa aku pelajari banyak hal yang akhirnya memberikan refleksi diri bahwa kehidupan itu bnyak hal yang bisa dinikmati ,banyak hal yang bisa dipelajari setelah satu hari full mengberikan training terkait dengan technical operational store,berinteraksi langsung dengan mereka membuat duniaku semakin berwarna .rasa ingin tahu,kepolosan dan bahkan gelak tawa mereka membuat gairahku hidup kembali meskipun tentu saja bahasa masih salah satu kendala ..tetapi karena memang manusia sebagai makhluk yang paling sempurna maka hmbatan itu terasa tak ada.
sebenarnya mereka tidak bisa/kurang fasih berbahasa inggris karena bahasa yang mereka gunakan dalam keseharian adalah tagalog.tetapi jika dibandingkan dengan orang Indonesia tentu saja mereka lebih baik,tetapi sikap open minded mereka dan rasa percaya diri yang besar membuat komunikasi ini terasa mudah.akhirnya ku temukan sinar penyemangat heheheh.....
jika dikulik lebih dalam maka rata2 penduduk disini lebih banyak yang "abroad" alias banyak yang bekerja keluar negeri banyak diantara mereka sanak famili nya bekerja di dubai,singapura bahkan beberapa negara eropa.jadi bisa dibilang bahwa typikal mereka adalah berani untuk mencoba hal baru.

Terkadang sesorang harus diuji untuk mengingatkan kembali bahwa tuhan menciptakan 2 mata 2 telinga dan 1 mulut untuk banyak mendengar,banyak melihat dan sedikit bicara
sejarah yang membawa kita kesini,history yang mengajarkan kita tentang kebaikan,
Tuhan pula yang membuat keputusan,jika kau percaya bahwa tuhan punya jalan dari semua permasalhan yang ada maka apalagi yang kau takutkan

 Sungguh besar nikmat yang telah diberikan sampai terkadang kita lupa untuk bersyukur,kita lupa bahwa kita bukan siapa siapa dan bukan apa apa,bnyak hal yang bisa kita lakukan untuk menjadi semakin lebih baik itu semua pilihan sampai akhirnya takdir yang menentukan.
